Srinagar, Oct 20 (KNO): Hundreds of people gathered at the JKCA Practice Ground in Church Lane here on Tuesday evening to witness the traditional “Ravan Dahan” ceremony as Dussehra celebrations culminated with the burning of effigies of Ravana, Meghnath and Kumbhkaran, symbolising the triumph of good over evil. The three towering effigies were engulfed in flames as firecrackers lit up the evening sky, drawing the attention of visitors gathered at the ground to mark the festival. According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), visitors, including families and local residents, gathered at the venue to witness the ritual, which remains one of the central attractions of Dussehra celebrations. Arjun, a visitor from Indra Nagar, Srinagar, said he had come to witness the Ravan Dahan and be part of the Dussehra celebrations. Karan, another visitor from Shivpora, Srinagar, also attended the event, joining others who had gathered to witness the traditional ceremony. Dussehra, also known as Vijayadashami, commemorates Lord Rama’s victory over Ravan and conveys the message of righteousness prevailing over evil. The burning of Ravana’s effigy remains a key tradition associated with the festival, which is celebrated across India—(KNO)
